Cooking Classes

Most classes at Shar's Bosch Kitchen Center are FREE, and emphasize a healthier life-style for you and your family, however, during the holiday season and due to limited space some require a small fee. Please check each class carefully. We demonstrate all of our major machines and base our concepts on the usage of fresh ground whole-grain flours. In each class we demonstrate both the Flour Mill and the Bosch Mixer's ability to produce a variety of whole-grain and nutritious white breads, and also our Pressure Cookers & stainless-steel gadgets that make life easier for you as you learn new techniques. Most of the items and gadgets we use during class are on sale for that week. For you frequent attenders, we're always adding "new recipes" and "new classes" that should keep you coming back to learn more and having a great time. NO SIGN UP NECESSARY UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED.

These Monday and Saturday are basic classes that teach the nutritional value of whole grains and their importance to our daily diet. It can be a great beginner class or a great refresher class whatever fits into your lifestyle. They are classes that are not taught as often as some of our other classes. We’ll teach you the trick of baking some of our yummy Pizza and Calzone recipes right on the grill without heating the oven. If you haven’t been to our pizza class, you’re in for a real treat. We’ll make a delightful Deep Dish, as well as traditional Pizza, all homemade from whole grain pizza dough. Then we’ll make Calzones from the same soft dough. We think there is a lot of interest in this class, so come early and enjoy.

With school back in session we thought this class would be a great time to teach some lunchbox ideas besides the usual PB & J. We’ll start by making a simply delicious Chipotle Chicken Salad wrapped in a homemade Tortilla, and then make Parmesan Chicken Strips. We also have some healthy snack ideas such as Homemade Pita Chips and Hummus. Come and check it out.

This is a basic class on canning beans and meats for long-term storage. We will use the Kuhn Rikon Pressure Cookers as well as the bigger canners we sell here in the center. We’ll start with beans, such as, Pinto, Kidney etc. Then we’ll teach how very simple it is to pressure can chicken, beef and pork, you can even bottle fish if you desire. This class will fill up fast so plan ahead and sign up early. Come hungry and enjoy dinner with us made from canned products.

 

SEPTEMBER SCHEDULE

We will be teaching the art of making Homemade Buns for hamburgers, hotdogs, or hoagie sandwiches. We’ll serve them with BBQ Beef and Baked Beans. Along with that we’ll also make a wonderful NEW Broccoli Slaw, Avocado Deviled Eggs, and a NEW melt-in-your mouth Dessert. If you want to have a fantastic Labor Day picnic this class is for you.

RUSTIC BREADS WITH ARTISAN FLARE

Rustic breads have a hearty crust and a wonderfully moist interior. These fabulous breads will all be baked on a pizza stone to ensure the heavy crust that artisan breads are noted for. Some of the breads we will be teaching are Teff Ezekial Bread, Sunflower Polenta Bread, and Squaw Bread. We will also demonstrate all the wonderful Bosch attachments including the Slicer/Shredder when we make Ham & Cheese Roll-Ups. Come learn how to make your time in the kitchen a little less stressful and a lot more fun.

We are going to teach some fabulous fall soups to get you prepared for Autumn. Our hearty Bread Bowls are perfect for any get together and they freeze beautifully. Our Clam Chowder and NEW Southwest Potato Soup go wonderfully with the bread bowls. We’ll also let you try some of our favorite soups like Tortilla Soup and Minestrone. Don’t miss out.

LOV'N FROM THE OVEN

Chicken Pasta Salad with Cashews & Cranberries

Salad:
1 lb Potpourri Pasta, cooked, drained, and cooled
1 Bunch Green Onions, sliced thin
5 Stalks Celery, sliced thin
15oz can Water Chestnuts, drained and diced
1 1/2 Cups Dried Cranberries
2 Cups Red Grapes cut in half
20oz can Pineapple tidbits
15oz Mandarin Oranges
1 Cup Cashews, coarsely chopped
12-14 Chicken Tenders, cooked, cooled, and diced

Dressing:
12oz Sour Cream
3/4 Cup Sugar
1 tsp. Celery Seed
1 tsp. Pepper
1/2 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
1 1/2 Cups Mayonnaise
Salt to taste

Combine salad ingredients, top with dressing. Fold together. Let chill in the fridge for at least 1 hour before serving to allow flavors to marry together. Serve and enjoy!

Grasshopper Mint Brownies

In Bosch Mixer:
3 cups Sugar
3/4 cup unsweetened Cocoa
1 1/2 cups Butter, softened
6 Eggs
2 1/4 cups Flour
2 tsp. Vanilla
3/4 tsp. Salt

Combine all ingredients in Bosch with cookie paddles. Mix until creamy. Prepare a large cookie sheet with parchment liner. Pour in mixture. Bake 350° for 18-22 minutes or until toothpick come out clean. Cool Completely.

Mint Frosting:
1 lb. Powdered Sugar
1/8 tsp. Pepermint Oil
Green Food Coloring
1/2 cup Butter
2 Tbsp. Light Karo Syrup
1 tsp. Vanilla
Dash Salt

Chocolate Frosting:
1 lb. Powdered Sugar
2/3 cup unsweetened Cocoa
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/4 tsp. Vanilla
1/2 cup Butter
1/3 cup boiling Water)

Combine and mix thoroughly the ingredients for each frosting. Frost Brownies first with mint frosting. Put into refrigerator for 10 minutes. Frost with chocolate frosting. Cut into squares and enjoy.
